Ft. Worth legend Van Cliburn passed away yesterday at the age of 78. Born in Louisiana and raised in Kilgore but he made Ft Worth his home for longer than I can remember. It is ironic that a city that started as an outpost on the frontier would become the home to one of the greatest American pianist of the 20th century and the piano competition named for him.
