I heard this one on the local news this weekend and I promise I’m not making this up. A recently passed Florida law makes it possible the ashes of alumni to be interred on the 11 state college campuses. Yes, that’s right alumi can now have their remains permanently stored on campus. UF is considering building a columbarium on campus. It would cost between $3,000-$5,000 per urn. Apparently, many alumni would liked to be interred in or near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
This just sounds like a money making scheme to me. It does seem very strange to and my alma mater has a marker supposedly marking the grave of a past college mascot.
