One Sunday we decided to check out the walking trails in the University of Florida Natural Area Teaching Laboratory (NATL). It is a 60 acre tract on the UF Campus. We took the trail through the Stormwater Ecological Enhancement Project (SEEP) stormwater retention basin. SEEP began as a course project for Ecosystems of Florida. It is maintained by the Wetlands Club.

That looks like a wonderful place. So rich in plant life.

Awesome photos. Don’t you afraid of snakes and aligators? Florida has plenty of these.

Babooshka: This was taking in January so it isn’t really changing seasons but it is interesting.
Swarma: They have the area divided in different sections and I tried to show that.
Alicesg, Geogypsy & Kacy: TY it was a fun day. Didn’t see much wildlife.
Antigoni: I’m very afraid of snakes that is due to all the snakes, mostly rattlers found in our yard back home in Texas. I’ve only seen 1 snake since we moved here. Alligators can be near any body of water but this area is pretty safe. We stayed on the walking trails.

There’s a place sort of like this in my hometown too, but I’ve never actually explored it. Wetlands are vital ecosystems, and it’s good to see an educational effort being made here!
