Leo here! Okay, humans, did you know that October is National Adopt a Dog Month? It is time to get off the couch, grab your keys, and find your boots. Oh, and since you are human, please do NOT forget your pants. It is time to head straight to your local shelter!

Go find your new best friend, or maybe even two. I am not judging—you can even get three if you have the room. Hope you have a king-size bed because we are all sleeping with you. In case you need more motivation for bringing home a new pup, I have put together a list of reasons why we are the best:

  • Unlimited Licks and Cuddles: Who doesn’t want extra warmth on a cold or rainy night? We are basically living, breathing heating pads that love you back. You will never have to worry about a lonely evening ever again.
  • Enthusiastic Greeting Committee: Seriously, what can be better than being rushed by your fur babies the second you walk in the door? Even if you only went to get the mail, we will act like you have been gone for ten years. It is the best ego boost in the world.
  • Unconditional Love: Despite the occasional side-eye, we don’t really judge your life choices. Okay, maybe we judge a little bit if you refuse to share treats while you polish off an entire family-size bag of chips. Aside from that, we think you are perfect just the way you are.
  • Always Ready for Adventure: You never have to worry about finding a companion for your latest outing. Whether it is a hike in the woods or a trip to the hardware store, we are ready to go. Just grab the leash and we are out the door!

Why are you still sitting there reading this on a screen? I told you to get moving because there are shelter dogs waiting for their forever homes. Move it!

OUT Leo!

About the Guest Author

Leo is a four-year-old Phantom Standard Poodle with a very busy schedule. When he isn’t guest-writing for the blog, he spends his time patrolling the yard and ensuring it remains a strictly “no-deer” zone. He is a high-energy adventurer who never turns down a car ride or a chance to show off his impressive collection of balls and stuffies. While he takes his guard dog duties seriously, he can easily be bribed with his three favorite things: chicken, carrots, and high-quality dog jerky.
