Back in November the FBI intercepted a group of criminals posing as the company Rove Digital.
On November 8, the FBI, the NASA-OIG and Estonian police arrested several cyber criminals in “Operation Ghost Click”. The criminals operated under the company name “Rove Digital”, and distributed DNS changing viruses, variously known as TDSS, Alureon, TidServ and TDL4 viruses. Read More
In a nutshell here is what happened. When the FBI broke up the cyber criminals. They couldn’t take the bad servers down without blocking effected computers from the internet. So, the DNS Changer Working Group (DCWG) was commissioned to create a safety net for computers infected with the malware. The grant funded servers will go off-line Monday July 9, 2012. Infected computers will no longer be able to access the internet.
