And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 (NIV)
First Christmas Song of the Year
For me the Christmas season does not start until after Thanksgiving. I love Christmas music and play it almost non-stop from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. If you don’t believe me just ask The Big Guy. Like last year I will be posting Christmas songs throughout the Christmas season.
I am starting with one of my favorite songs Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S. Bach. In my opinion it is second only to The Hallelujah Chorus by G. F. Handel. This version is preformed by Celtic Woman.
Jesu, joy of man’s desiring,
Holy wisdom, love most bright;
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light.
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
With the fire of life impassioned,
Striving still to truth unknown,
Soaring, dying round Thy throne.
Through the way where hope is guiding,
Hark, what peaceful music rings;
Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
Drink of joy from deathless springs.
Theirs is beauty’s fairest pleasure;
Theirs is wisdom’s holiest treasure.
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown.
