Yesterday, I saw the following sign in front of the local Unitarian Church.
We need less religion and more truth.
That is actually a profound statement. We do need more truth and less religion. The next question is who’s truth? Is truth relative? Or maybe there are many forms of truth that are equal. Does absolute truth even exist?
Why more truth and less religion? Religion is human’s attempt to reach God. Christianity however is a relationship with the almighty God. A relationship where God first approached human. God is eternal; we are temporal. God is infinite; we are finite. Without God’s initiative we wouldn’t even know he existed.
What is truth? That there is one God and that only through Christ we are able to reach him.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 (NIV)
It isn’t a choice of many acceptable paths to God. There is one way to God.
Thanks again for another beautiful blog about God and Christ. You help us gain stronger testimonies of God and Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16: 15 [KJV] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
When you blog or your mom emails me with scriptures and quotes– I expand my daily scripture study to include those topics, too. You help me think about my own faith in God and Christ and seek for truth. : )
May you feel the blessings from the Lord for your willingness to share your faith.
John 8: 31 (KJV) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
41 Remember the greatness of the Holy One of Israel…I have spoken the words of your Maker. I know that the words of truth are hard against all uncleanness; but the righteous fear them not, for they love the truth and are not shaken.
41 O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One. Remember that his paths are righteous. 2 Ne 9
