Saturday I promised a review of the new Third Day. In my not so humble opinion Revelation is Third Day’s greatest project yet. True it is not an unbiased opinion, but after all they are my favorite band. Of course, this is my blog and I am not only allowed to give my opinion, but also that is one of the purposes of a blog. In Revelation, Third Day has returned to the their trade mark southern rock sound. I love the guitar driven sound and Mac Powell has a very unique voice. While, Third Day may not be as creative as David Crowder but they have found what works for them. Why do I like Revelation? Well, here are several reasons:
The first cut, This is Who I Am, is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Third Day has matured both musically and personally. My favorite line would be how the song lists all the roles we play and is that really all we are or more. It is a plea for God to make us better.
Call My Name is one of those songs that is a musical refuge on a rough day. While the song does not overtly mention God, it could be taken as reminder that we can call God in times of need (and just about any time).
Run To You is song of reconciliation and restoration. God is there for us even when we forget that. Just like the father of the prodigal son, he is waiting for us to return to him.
Revelation is a heart-felt cry for God’s direction and leading. It is an amazing song.
What I find the most appealing about Otherside are the guitar rifts and driving beat. It is good lyrically as well.
Let Me Love You is a classic southern rock ballad/love song. It is a great song. You just need to listen to it.
Born Again is a hymn-like reminder that Third Day is more than a rock band. They are also an awesome worship band.
Third Day’s southern roots come out in Give Love. Sounds like a banjo in the background. The song has a lighter fun feel to it.
The project finishes strong with Take It All. The song is a reminder that all we have, even our life, ultimately belongs to God.
The other four songs are good songs as well. I just wrote about my favorites. As I said earlier, this may be Third Day’s best CD yet. The street date for Revelation is July 29th but for now you listen it on Third Day’s website.
This is a great album, and one of the best Third Day albums.

Hi Dee!
We love the review of the new CD. We both are Third Day fans too. We saw them in Fairbanks a few years ago. Consuming Fire is one of my favorite songs of they have done… well then there are the worship albums too! Maybe it is to hard to pick a favorite for me. I am looking forward to the new CD sine you gave such a good review. Thanks for the heads up on it! 🙂
