“God’s plans always exceed our expectations.”
Louie Giglio
Frequently, I attempt to orchestrate things on my own, yet no matter how prepared I am, the results fall short of my expectations. Sometimes, the plan just flat-out bombs. Other times, I choose to truly trust God and follow His leading. Those are the moments when the results are genuinely surprising. The number of people and unexpected blessings He has brought into my life when I least anticipated them is unreal.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV
Several years ago, I held a position at a community college that I thoroughly enjoyed. My plan was simple: stay there until retirement. Then COVID hit, and as a result of the pandemic, my program was canceled. Eventually, I was offered a part-time position in a different department, but it unfortunately proved to be an extremely toxic environment. One evening, a friend sent me a link to a Facebook job posting for a Christian camp, asking if it was located anywhere near me. I applied, and I got the job.
Our camp is not a typical summer camp. We are fully dedicated to creating a space where campers can see, hear, know, and experience God. We strive to make these experiences completely accessible, supporting the specific needs of youth from low-income and vulnerable communities. It truly is a special place, and I am incredibly blessed to be able to serve there every day.
