I have always thought the view near Chalk Mountain, Texas is amazing. Chalk Mountain is located about 10 miles west of Glen Rose. The best view is coming down the mountain. Since I have not figured out to get that shot without standing the the middle of a 2 lane road, trying to walk along a non-existant shoulder or jumping out of a moving car I haven’t been a been able to get a good shot. So the view from the roadside park going up the mountain will have to do.
Noticed this structure in the distance and decided to zoom in. Still not sure what it is but it appears to have be an “Alamo” style structure.
The roadside park even has “Don’t mess with Texas” trash barrels. Looks like it might be an original one from 1986. I find it amusing how many non-Texans think that slogan is from the Alamo. Actually, it is a trademark anti-littering campaign from the Texas Department of Transportation.
