Found this on the Daily Post Blog and thought it would be a good topic. I have never lied about my age. However, I have been accused of lying when I was telling the truth.
I’ve always had problems with people underestimating my age. When I was in college, I was still being sold kids tickets at the movies if I didn’t specifically ask for an adult ticket. I even a police officer not believe my age after he ran my license. He still did not believe it was real. He just knew I had a fake id. I’m sure you are wondering why he was checking my id. That is a good story. I had just graduated from college and was at Target in the middle of the school day. Well, a “concerned citizen” saw me walking to my car and decided that I was too young to be driving. She flagged down a nearby police officer and told him that I had stolen a car. As I was leaving the parking lot, the police officer pulled in front of my car and stopped. I’m trying to figure out what is going on because I knew I hadn’t broken any laws. Of course, the officer asked for my license, why I wasn’t in school and repeatedly about my age.
When I was younger, it was very frustrating when people underestimated my age. Now I just find it amusing.
