Took these on our recent trip west.  These shots features Notrees, Texas which is really little more than a wide spot in the road and a sign. As you can see sky watching is pretty easy to do in the Big Country.

Ok, for all of those who think Texas no trees that is correct. It is a little community west of Odessa.

View around Notrees. Notice the pump jacks in the background. Notrees is in the middle of oil country.

  1. Those are interesting shots. Love the name of that place! I’ve driven across Texas and was very impressed by the big sky. It’s beautiful. I bet there are some awesome sunsets there. Greeting from CA.

  2. I like that sign. I was once traveling in Arizona and there is a town called Why. I used to joke and say I wanted to live there so when people ask me where I live I could say Why.

  3. Kathy: It is very appropriate for the area. Although it isn’t much of a town anymore.

Linnea: My header is one of those beautiful sunsets. It was taken on i-20 west of Abilene.

Ruth: No I think they are Yucca plants.

People with Cameras: There used to be a big tree behind the sign.

Connie: That is funny. There is a Truth and Consequences, NM.

AK: That is cool. I wish I had gotten a picture of the sign from Flat, Tx. So I could have a post for all those who think Texas has no trees and is flat.

  4. Oh my … what an aptly descriptive name for this Texas town. Fun post … and I love the last shot too! As for your 2009 goals … I love #9, 5, 4, and 1 especially. I shared ‘intentions’ (preferring that word to resolutions) for 2009 at Sacred Ruminations a while back in a BYBS post methinks.
    Hugs and blessings,
