While doing research for my Top 10 Movie Soundtracks list, I discovered a gem of an interview with John Williams where he discusses the true power of music in movies.

For a film, music is the glue that ties every scene together. It is often the vehicle that transports the viewer from one moment to the next. Music invites us to fully engage with the story on an emotional level. As Williams explains, music connects us to the humanity of the characters. Music acts as a universal language that unites people across the world.
